i am running my first 5k tomorrow evening with Justin!
its a tiny step forward but i am stoked.:)
Ive been training (so i won’t die) for a while now so lets see how this goes.
my next step is a 10k.
I think what motivates me is that
my family on my mothers side are runners, my uncle (my mom’s brother) came in the top 100 in the first international marathon in Mexico City in the 1980s. (considering that there were thousands of runners in that race makes me extra proud, not to mention the altitude!)
My uncle Raul (my grandma’s brother) has run so many marathons, id like to say hundreds but i am not sure if thats exaggerating but i do not doubt it. He used to lead a group of runners in Echo park and they would run through Griffith Park.
Another of my aunts got a scholarship for Cal state La for track back in the day, now she is the coach for my cousin’s high school track and cross country team.
and other of my relatives continue to run on a daily basis and participate in races.
my goal is not to finish my race with a short time, my goal is to continue trying to live a healthy life.
I want to be healthy, i want my body to feel good.
one day before i die i will run a marathon.
